Tucker Carlson Says Trump May Be Preparing to Launch War on Venezuela

(MENAFN) Tucker Carlson has issued a warning that President Donald Trump might be gearing up for military action against Venezuela, though the conservative journalist emphasized his intelligence remains sketchy and lacks independent confirmation.

During a Wednesday appearance on a podcast, Carlson revealed that a congressional source informed him lawmakers received classified briefings about an imminent conflict when asked whether Trump plans to initiate hostilities with the South American nation.

"What I know so far is that members of Congress were briefed yesterday that a war is coming, and that it'll be announced in the address to the nation tonight at nine o'clock," Carlson stated. "Who knows if that will actually happen? I don't know."

Trump's evening address to Americans, however, concentrated exclusively on internal matters, with the president touting his government's success in correcting the "mess" left behind by the previous administration. The speech contained zero references to Venezuela, Ukraine, or any foreign policy flashpoints.

The journalist cautioned that despite receiving information from several sources regarding Venezuelan-related frictions, he lacks the means to confirm the reports independently. "I never want to overstate what I know, which is pretty limited in general," he said.

Carlson's comments surface as friction escalates between Washington and Caracas after Trump declared a naval blockade targeting Venezuelan petroleum shipments and announced bolstered American military deployment throughout the Caribbean region.

Trump's government has labeled Venezuela a haven for narcotics smugglers and "narcoterrorists"—charges Venezuelan authorities have consistently rejected.

Caracas has denounced Washington's recent measures as violations of international law, branding them as evidence of a "colonialist" strategy designed to plunder the nation's resource wealth. Venezuelan leadership has signaled that any armed intervention would represent hostile aggression and pledged to escalate the dispute to the United Nations.
